Games For Young Citizens of the New World Order (GFYCotNWO) is a collection of small tabletop games that I designed with Austin Brägger and Griffin Faye over the course of 6 weeks as the final project for a course. I focused on writing the rules, designed the core systems of a few of the board and card games, and the overall graphic design.

Our goal with GFYCotNWO was to curate a collection of children’s games for a community center in an imagined future nation – the New World Order. The games offer both entertainment and some moral guidance, teaching players how to cooperate, share, and compete constructively.

In order to set the tone of the game collection and the speculative future world, I based the design of the rules and the game box on the Werkbundkiste from post-war Germany. These boxes contained examples of “good design” and were distributed to teach the German people about contemporary design trends.

Our card game Cooking was designed in such a way that players must work together to help everyone make a meal. Players can either trade each other ingredients or place unused ingredients in a “communal kitchen area”, which encourages players to work together in order to ensure that everyone can make a meal.
